PORT ADELAIDE has made several changes to its line-up for Saturday’s clash with Central District with two players to make their club and SANFL debuts.
Mid-season draftee Brynn Teakle has been named to make his debut following his move across from East Fremantle, while West Adelaide product Kye Roberts will also make his senior debut.
Roberts is an inaugural participant in the SANFL’s rookie program, which gives young players overlooked in the draft an opportunity to train with an AFL side, play with its SANFL team or return to his parent club if not selected.
The teenager is a neat ball user and is averaging 15 disposals playing for the Bloods in the SANFL’s under 18 competition this season.
Ruckman/forward Teakle will be joined in the line-up by plenty of other tall timber with ruckman Sam Hayes returning after seven games at AFL level and defenders Sam Skinner (concussion) and Trent McKenzie (knee) returning from injury. McKenzie has not played since having surgery on his knee following the AFL Round 3 Showdown.
Jed McEntee is the other inclusion, after being kept out of the Magpies’ last game before the bye as an AFL emergency.
Forward Orazio Fantasia headlines those going out of the team following his quad injury while Brayden Kirk, Aryan Sareen, Campbell Wildman, Anthony Wilson and Miller Carter have also been omitted.
AFL emergencies Mitch Georgiades, Sam Mayes, Jackson Mead and Martin Frederick could also be included if not required for the club’s AFL game against Richmond on Thursday night.
Port Adelaide has had the wood over Central District in recent times, winning the last four encounters between the sides and the last three at Elizabeth Oval.
Saturday’s game at Elizabeth gets underway at 2:35pm.
