PORT ADELAIDE will be forced into at least one change at the selection table for Saturday’s big game against Sydney with a calf strain to keep Trent Dumont out.

The wingman was subbed out during the third quarter of the loss to Richmond and is hopeful of returning after the weekend’s clash with the Swans.

There were some solid showings in the SANFL from players who could replace Dumont on the wing including from the man who replaced him as medical substitute, Martin Frederick.

Frederick had 23 disposals, three clearances and five inside 50s, showing his trademark run and carry as the Magpies beat Central District on Saturday.

Sam Mayes, Xavier Duursma, Jackson Mead and Taj Schofield also did their best to audition for the role.

Mayes had 20 disposals to go with five tackles and four clearances while Duursma (22 disposals, five tackles), Mead (24 disposals, two tackles, five clearances) and Schofield (23 disposals, four tackles, five clearances, six inside 50s) each gathered plenty of the ball on the vast expanses of Elizabeth Oval.

The AFL selectors could also opt to make a change in the ruck department having left Sam Hayes out of the Richmond game.

Hayes went back to the SANFL and led the game for hit-outs, sharing the ruck duties with mid-season recruit Brynn Teakle.

As well as having 33 hit-outs, Hayes also had 17 disposals and a clearance on top of a team-high nine marks.

Teakle impressed on debut with three goals from his 13 disposals and seven marks. He also had 11 hit-outs, providing Hayes good support in the ruck.

Forward Mitch Georgiades was in good goalkicking form, booting 4.2 from 16 disposals. He also racked up eight marks and two tackles for good measure as he aims to force his way back into the AFL line-up.

Port Adelaide will on Thursday evening name its side to face the Swans at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

First bounce in that game is at 1:15pm.
