SCANS have confirmed Port Adelaide midfielder Zak Butters has sprained the medial ligament in his left knee.
Butters was subbed out during the second quarter of the win over Sydney on Saturday after an opponent landed on his leg in a tackle.
The 21-year-old will not face Gold Coast on Sunday and a timeline for his return to the field will become clearer as the week progresses.
Ruckman Brynn Teakle is recovering following surgery to repair his broken collarbone. The injury also happened during the second quarter of the win over the Swans, leaving Port Adelaide down a rotation. It is likely Teakle will be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
Forward Orazio Fantasia is expected to be available for selection after a period on the sidelines with a quad strain, while Trent McKenzie should also be available after the experienced defender didn’t play on the weekend, having been concussed a week earlier in the SANFL.
Midfielder Travis Boak will clear the health and safety protocols and be in the frame to face the Suns at Adelaide Oval.
Port Adelaide will on Thursday evening name an extended squad for Sunday’s game before naming its final team on Friday afternoon.
The first bounce on Sunday is at 3:40pm.
