IN: Bergman, Boak, Burgoyne, McKenzie, Motlop, Schofield
OUT: Butters (knee), Clurey (H&S protocols), Teakle (collarbone)
PORT ADELAIDE will welcome back valuable experience for Sunday’s big game against the Gold Coast with former captain Travis Boak to return after clearing the AFL’s health and safety protocols.
Boak missed last week’s win over Sydney but has been named to come straight back into the side after a week in isolation.
Among the extended squad named to tackle the Suns are Steven Motlop and Trent McKenzie, the former after a stand-out performance in the SANFL last week. Former Sun McKenzie could play his first AFL game since Round 3 after clearing the concussion protocols and having knee surgery.
The untried Taj Schofield and Jase Burgoyne have also been included, hoping to follow in the footsteps of their 2004 premiership winning fathers Jarrad Schofield and Peter Burgoyne in representing the club at AFL level, while Miles Bergman has been named for what could be his third game of the year and first since Round 5.
Injuries to Zak Butters and Brynn Teakle see them drop out of the side, while Tom Clurey will miss under the AFL’s health and safety protocols.
The team will be trimmed to 22 and emergencies on Friday afternoon.
Sunday afternoon’s game at Adelaide Oval gets underway at 3:40pm ACST with free entry for children under the age of 15. Children’s tickets must be registered through Ticketek and a valid barcode displayed on entry.
