Dear Members and Supporters,

You’re probably sick to death of this topic, but I thought another quick update on the AFL reserves saga may be in order given the recent media attention it has been given.

The SANFL are currently formulating a new set of entry conditions for Port Adelaide to consider, if it were to enter a support team for its AFL side into the SANFL competition. This work commenced after we rejected the set of conditions originally offered, which were identical to those accepted by the Crows, but incompatible to our specific needs and criteria.

The SANFL are discussing this new offer with their Clubs this week, to enable the PAFC Board to consider the invitation at its scheduled meeting on Friday.

At this stage, we don’t know what these conditions will look like, or whether they will suit our requirements. If the SANFL’s revised offer doesn’t work for us, we will maintain the status quo position for 2014 as previously stated.

I think it’s really important that we finalise this matter, as it has been very disruptive to the Magpie lads in particular. I spoke as candidly as I could to both the Senior and Junior players last week, but as each week drags on I’m sure it’s becoming more of a distraction.

I will send you the final word on this matter by the end of the week.

Regards
Keith Thomas
