PORT Adelaide will be celebrating SANFL-listed Tom Corcoran’s 50th game as it prepares to tackle West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium today.
Coach Matthew Lokan praised the Magpies ‘journeyman’ for his leadership.
"Corcs is a bit of a journeyman for us,” he said.
“He started here and then moved to Glenelg and has ended up back here.
“He's part of our contracted group, he's a great leader of our contracted guys.
“He's been around for a long time now, so for him to get to 50 games is great for him and hopefully we can reward him with a good win.”
Lokan said his side will need to improve from its loss to Woodville-West Torrens last week if it hopes to defeat the Bloods.
“Obviously Westies haven't won a game this year and we beat them quite convincingly at Loxton but we need to come with attitude to compete for longer,” he said.
“We probably did it for a quarter last week against the Eagles and you're not going to win too many games when you only play a quarter of footy.
“We know that we'll need to be at our best for a longer period of the game to get the result that we need.”
The Magpies will again have an inexperienced side but will welcome back reinforcements in defence.
“We'll get Trent McKenzie back, which will help,” Lokan said.
“Jackson Lee will come back into the team, which is good. He was in really good form before he hurt himself the last time we played West.
“We've got a couple of experienced guys back which help, but obviously lose Scott Lycett and a couple of the boys travelling to Alice Springs.”
The first bounce is at 2.10pm today.
