PORT ADELAIDE captain Tom Jonas will play his 200th AFL match on Saturday against Collingwood, alongside vice-captain and good friend Ollie Wines.
The pair played their 150th AFL games together in 2020 – a win over Richmond – and will be hoping for the same result.
If you are looking to impress your friends while watching the game, here are some key numbers around Jonas’ journey to 200 games.
16 – Jonas was selected by Port Adelaide with pick 16 at the 2011 AFL Rookie Draft from Norwood in the SANFL.
21 – It was in Round 21, 2011 that Jonas was elevated to the senior list and made his AFL debut. It was a forgettable day with the club’s record 165-point loss to Hawthorn.
4 – the number of Brownlow votes Jonas has received in his 199 career games. He has not polled a single vote since the umpires gave him one for his career-high 30-disposal performance against West Coast in Round 21, 2018.
56.03 – the winning percentage Jonas currently holds across his AFL career (111 wins / 1 Draw / 87 losses)
1 – the number of goals Jonas has managed in his career. It came in a win against the Western Bulldogs in Round 14, 2014. He has also kicked three behinds – but none since 2020. 1 is also the number he wears on his back as Port Adelaide captain, having worn the number 42 in his first 139 AFL games.
2014 – the year Jonas was elevated to the Port Adelaide leadership group
12,007 – Jonas is the 12,007th player to appear in the VFL/AFL and the 130th to play for Port Adelaide in the AFL.
172 – The number of one-percenters Jonas had in 2021 – second only by a Port Adelaide player to Dougal Howard’s 230 in 2018. Jonas has five of the top ten individual season records for one per-centers at the club – each coming over the last five seasons.
3 – Joas has three-times been nominated in the 40-man All-Australian squad without making the final team. He has also placed in the top-three in the club’s best and fairest on three occasions, including finishing as runner-up to Justin Westhoff in the 2018 season.
188 – Jonas is 188 centimetres tall which makes him one of the smaller key defenders in the competition but still remarkably capable of playing on taller or smaller forwards.
9 – Only nine Port Adelaide players have reached 200 games for the club. Jonas (and Wines) will become the tenth and eleventh. 9 is also the number of times Jonas has faced this week’s opponent Collingwod with a 7-2 win-loss record.
2 – the number of milestone matches Jonas has won. His 50th game was a 26-point loss to Sydney at Adelaide Oval in 2014 and his 100th was the memorable two-point win over St Kilda in 2017. Game 150 came (with Wines) in a 21-point win over Richmond at Adelaide Oval in Round 11, 2020.
