PORT ADELAIDE will be hoping to close out its SANFL season on a high when it takes on Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The Magpies fell just short of defeating South Adelaide last week, while the finals-bound Crows had a 55-point victory over Central District.
Coach Matthew Lokan said this week’s game will be a challenge, but believes his side has every opportunity to win.
“They’ve got a really experienced SANFL team at the moment and they’re in good form” he said.
“It’s going to be a challenge for us, but I think we showed some signs last week.
“When we do play our best football it’s good enough to compete in this competition.
“If we string four quarters together, we give ourselves a good opportunity to win the game.
“The result didn’t go the way that we wanted, we went out to Noarlunga to win the game and fell short after a pretty strong first three quarters.
“In front of a home Showdown crowd, it’d be a good way to finish off a disappointing season.”
The Magpies lost the last battle between the two sides, also at Adelaide Oval in Round 1 by 62 points.
Anthony Wilson was one of Port’s best that day with three goals and he’ll be a welcome inclusion for Saturday’s clash.
“It’s a good opportunity for our contracted guys to play at Adelaide Oval in front of our supporters,” Lokan said.
“Anthony Wilson will come back in from concussion from two weeks ago, and we’ll get a few of the listed guys back due to them not travelling.”
The first bounce is at 3.20pm at Adelaide Oval.
