BROWNLOW medallist Ollie Wines headlines a list of Port Adelaide players who will be undertaking a period of post-op rehabilitation this off-season after going under the surgeon’s knife.
Wines had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to clean out some loose bodies, a similar procedure to the one defender Tom Clurey had on his right knee earlier this month.
Wines will be managed through the early stages of pre-season training.
Experienced midfielder Travis Boak underwent a left side hernia repair but it is not expected to impact his return for pre-season training in early December.
Young defender Josh Sinn had a similar procedure, which also included an abdominal tendon repair, and will have a staggered progression into full drills when he resumes training with the first to fourth year players in late November.
Mitch Georgiades had a syndesmosis repair on his left ankle, after sustaining the injury in the win over the Crows in Round 23, but the procedure is not expected to impact on the exciting forward’s preparation for 2023.
Similarly Riley Bonner is expected to be able to train as normal during the pre-season following a procedure to clean out some scar tissue from the back of his right ankle.
Defender/forward Lachie Jones is progressing well after the previously reported hamstring surgery that ended his season after round 20.
Players are now on leave and due to return for pre-season training from November 21.
Post-season surgery list:
Boak – hernia
Bonner – ankle
Clurey – knee
