Mitchell, 24, joined the Power as a rookie in 2013 and made his debut in Round 1 of that year.
He went on to play 13 games for the club and became an instant cult figure for his hard-running game.
His promotion comes at the expense of the injured Sam Colquhoun who will miss the rest of the season following knee surgery.
