SAM Powell-Pepper has been crowned this season’s MG MVP, emerging victorious in the fan vote for 2022.

Having previously operated as a midfielder, this season Powell-Pepper shifted positions to play as a high-pressure forward. The change in scenery quickly proved to suit him, with the bullish forward going on to enjoy a career-best year on the park.

He played every possible game for the club in 2022 and finished as the club’s second highest goalscorer (24 goals) – smashing his previous yearly best.

His 2022 highlights included a four-goal haul against Essendon in Round 17, a 25-disposal and 10-mark domination against the Giants, and a memorable win against the Bulldogs in his 100th AFL match.

It was these moments, combined with his trademark toughness and second efforts, that has solidified him as a fan favourite of the Port Adelaide faithful.

Powell-Pepper was the runaway winner of the fan vote – taking out the weekly honour four times, and impressively, polling in 18 out 22 rounds.

The MG MVP Leaderboard has Powell-Pepper finishing with a total of 66 votes, clearing runner-up Connor Rozee (50 votes) and third-placed Travis Boak (37 votes).
