PORT Adelaide has recalled tall forward Todd Marshall for its Good Friday encounter with West Coast at Optus Stadium.

Marshall kicked just one goal and averaged 8.5 disposals in the first two games of the season, but booted four goals in the SANFL last week to show he's a dangerous presence in attack.

"We saw last week that we had some issues, particularly in the last quarter, we weren't able to bring the ball to ground as well as we would've liked," Power coach Ken Hinkley told reporters on Thursday morning.

"Todd gives us a bit more height in that area and he gives us a bit more aerial assistance.

"His whole game last week was a really strong game, at SANFL level you probably don't get a much better game for a tall forward than what Todd was delivering last week."

Marshall, the 16th overall pick in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft, has shown glimpses of his immense potential in his 12 career games.

"I'd like to think Todd will be a really consistent player at AFL level in some shape for the next 10 years, it's just a matter of young forwards do take a while to get there," Hinkley said.

"The next step for him is consistency, staying in the game for longer.

"If he stays in the game for longer, he stays in the AFL team forever."

Forward Aidyn Johnson will be the Power's travelling emergency for their trip to Perth.

Marshall's inclusion allows veteran swingman Justin Westhoff to roam higher up the ground.

"It certainly gives us that flexibility, whether we use Westy more as a forward or as a winger, where he played most of last season, it gives us that freedom," Hinkley said.

"We also understand the team we're coming up against, with their intercept-markers, they've got (Shannon) Hurn, (Tom) Barrass, (Jeremy) McGovern, they're all good intercept-markers, so we've got to make sure we try and keep them busy."

Wet weather is expected for the Good Friday clash, with up to 25mm predicted to fall in Perth.

"West Coast are a big side, too, they've got plenty of talls in their side," Hinkley said.

"Height and weather don't necessarily have to go hand in hand, particular for blokes like (Marshall) and (Westhoff), who are pretty good running players.

"We're not that tall in defence, so maybe it's an advantage to us, because they'll have some big blokes in their front half."
