HAWTHORN'S Tom Mitchell has continued his stellar start to the season and showed why he is still the most expensive player in AFL Fantasy.
The ball magnet had another 40 possessions and two goals in the Hawks’ nail-biting one-point win over Geelong on Monday.
Mitchell scored 137 points for round two, increasing his value by $13,000 and an overall $29,000 since the start of the season.
The competition’s most popular player was actually outscored in the game by Geelong’s Gary Ablett who had 138 points despite having five fewer possessions and one less goal, but he did give away fewer free kicks.
Port Adelaide’s highest-ranked player this season is Justin Westhoff but there have been some other Fantasy stars at Alberton.
Justin Westhoff (mid/fwd - $641,000)
Ranked 15th across the league, the versatile utility increased his value by $28,000 with his total of 104 points – that’s $56,000 over the first two rounds.
Westhoff had 19 kicks, 8 handballs and six tackles to go with eleven hit-outs after starting in the ruck in Paddy Ryder’s absence.
The veteran is averaging 118 AFL Fantasy points this season and has been picked by 4526 Fantasy Coaches, nearly doubling his representation in one week.
Dom Barry (mid - $243,000)
We have spoken before about Barry’s potential to add value and add value quickly.
Given he was coming off a low base, the speedy midfielder has added $73,000 to his overall value in two games, after averaging 71.5 points per game.
The 24-year-old is Port Adelaide’s most popular player with AFL Fantasy Coaches, having been selected in 63,914 teams to date.
Barry represents value for
Todd Marshall (fwd $285,000)
He might only be a teenager but he’s shown a composure and maturity beyond his years in the opening two rounds.
Marshall has only been picked in 1478 AFL Fantasy teams so far, but with a cost of just $5,000 per point scored he represents decent value.
Marshall added $18,000 to his value in round 2, making it a total growth of $31,000 in 2018.
He’s averaging 57 points after bags of four and three goals and given his low price, is likely to be a popular selection this week.
Ollie Wines (mid - $715,000)
A break-out 35-possession performance by the Port Adelaide vice-captain showcased his star quality, especially when his side was up against it when the Swans were flying.
Wines added $12,000 to his overall value with his 125 points after breaking even in round 1 with 101 points.
Still only selected by 1491 teams, Wines is 21st on the list of highest scorers in the competition and seems to be in rare form.
Robbie Gray (fwd - $592,000)
It might have been his first game
26 possessions, three marks, ten tackles and a goal brought Gray 119 AFL Fantasy Points.
It also saw his value rise by $20,000.
At $4,974 per point, Gray is Port Adelaide’s second-best value for points-per-dollar, yet he is not all that popular with Fantasy coaches, having been selected in just 4707 teams.
