MONDAY NIGHT will see the start of the 2022 NAB AFL National Draft, although Port Adelaide will be inactive until the second night of the event.

Port Adelaide currently holds picks 33, 60 and 72 meaning it won’t make a selection until the second round.

Its picks are likely to shift depending on the selection by other clubs of father-son and Next Generation Academy players and whether clubs elect not to use all of their picks.

The first round of the draft will be held on Monday night with the remainder of the event on Tuesday night.

A select group of players has been invited to take in the first night of the draft from the Victory room at Marvel Stadium in the hope that they will hear their names called out.

No players will be in attendance on the second night.

The close of the second delisted free agency and draft pick swap periods means the draft order is now locked in with a total of 83 picks available for clubs to use.

However, some are predicting fewer than 55 selections will be made.

Greater Western Sydney is likely to use five selections, with Hawthorn also a chance to use five picks, while Carlton, Fremantle and North Melbourne are among the clubs set to use four selections.

The NAB AFL Rookie Draft will be held on Wednesday 30 November with clubs given the opportunity to pick up unclaimed young talent or delisted experienced players from rival AFL clubs.
