THE Smith Family’s Boyz Biz program, which forms part of its activities in the community, was held at Alberton Oval during the school holidays.

The special summer program was an addition to the already successful Learning Club normally held during school term in the Power Community Classroom at Alberton Oval.

The aim of the program is to give boys in primary school the opportunity to learn life skills and to gain exposure to positive role models in a fun environment.

Each week the participants learn new skills such as team work, leadership, resilience, goal-setting and build positive relationships with peers, mentors and service providers.

Over the course of three weeks during the school holiday period, participants had the opportunity to try Taekwondo, spend time with a police officer, complete a goal-setting session, try their hand at a cooking class with Masterchef contestant John Hughes and attended a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing session with Power Community Limited staff.

The participants were treated to a unique inner sanctum tour lead by Russell Ebert, allowing all of the young people to imagine themselves in the position of a Port Adelaide player and learn about the history of the club.

Participants were provided healthy snacks throughout their activity and given a show bag with loads of goodies and treats to take home and enjoy.
