The partnership will see students of PCL's Aboriginal Programs provided with a pathway to explore a career in the landscaping industry.

THE PORT ADELAIDE Football Club is again teaming with Outside Ideas to create critical pathways for students straight from school, into the large-scale landscaping, civil construction, structural concreting and landscape maintenance industries.

Centring on the club’s long-running Aboriginal Programs, the partnership with Outside Ideas will see students of Power Community Limited’s (PCL) Aboriginal Programs be provided with a pathway and opportunity to explore various lines of work in the landscaping industry.

Aboriginal Program Manager, Braedon Talbot says that carving out tangible career pathways for Aboriginal students straight from school into the workforce is critical.

“Creating genuine and achievable career pathways for students straight from school into the workforce is critically important”, Mr. Talbot said.

“If students can see a real opportunity to have a prosperous career, it gives them an authentic incentive to complete their secondary education, and ultimately plays a big role in helping to close the gap.

“The power of partnerships of this nature cannot be underestimated. The impact these opportunities have on students can truly change lives, and ultimately make a momentous impact on their future.

“I am incredibly grateful for the support Outside Ideas have shown Power Community Limited’s Aboriginal Programs, and I’m really excited to continue to work with them, and the students, on creating and facilitating this amazing opportunity”.

After previously employing two apprentices via the club’s Aboriginal Programs in 2015, Outside Ideas Director, Aaron Superina said building a meaningful connection to the club has remained of paramount importance to them.

“Outside Ideas has had a connection with Port Adelaide since 2015 when the club helped place two apprentices in our business”, Mr. Superina said.

“Since then, we have tried to build a meaningful connection where we can support a great program, and the club can help guide potential school leavers towards a career with our company.”

The partnership between PCL’s Aboriginal Programs and Outside Ideas will continue in 2023.
