PORT ADELAIDE will start its season at Adelaide Oval for the first time in four years taking on Brisbane in a reverse of last season’s opener.
The AFL has released the fixture for Round 1 of the 2023 Premiership Season, which has Port Adelaide hosting the Lions at 4:05pm SA time on Saturday 18 March.
Port Adelaide was narrowly defeated at the Gabba in the 2022 season opener and will be hoping to reverse the result to kick off the new campaign.
The last time the club had a home game to open the season was back in 2018 when the club beat Fremantle by 50 points.
“As a club we love playing in front of our people, and there is no better way to kick off the 2023 campaign than in front of a packed crowd at Adelaide Oval,” said Port Adelaide chief executive officer Matthew Richardson.
“After playing away to start the season for the last four years, it is exciting to be back home against a strong side, in a timeslot that we know our members and supporters really enjoy.”
The remainder of the fixture is expected to be released in the coming days.
