GARRY Hocking assesses the performance of each player in Port Adelaide's Round 12 'catch-up' game against the Roosters.
Peter Jackson Player of the Week
Kane Mitchell
It was his best game for 2015 by far. Mitch worked so hard to win possession both inside and outside of stoppages. He tackled the opposition with great intent and used the ball quite well in general play.
Player reviews
Tom Gray
Form continues to be strong and is very compliant with regard to our structure and team style. Forward pressure has been excellent since making his debut.
Nathan Krakouer
Very good performance and was very classy around goals this week. Flexibility is another strong point of his game, as he went back and restricting North's inside-50 opportunities.
Steven Summerton
Not the player of the week, but was certainly in the best again. Played many roles for us across the game and did a great job on Thiele after half time restricting his influence on the match.
Dougal Howard
Was a little slow to get going this week, but a shift to defence later in the game saw him get inolved and have much more influence. His aerial contests were strong and he doesn’t mind going back with the flight.
Tom Logan
This bloke hardly puts a foot wrong, again he was in our best and defended really well down back. He also got some possessions and used the ball very efficiently for us.
Sid Masters
Was given some strong words at half time, as I thought he was just off the pace with his aggression and defending. He did have a strong second half. Sid needs to always have an edge to his game.
Sam Russell
His best game for the Maggies since arriving from Geelong Falcons. He had strong, aggressive defending but it was his willingness to get more involved with our offence that excited us the most.
John Butcher
Was very lively again in defence for us during the first half - he looked to defend first and then challenge his opponent. Spent some time forward, however he struggled for impact there. John is playing with more confidence and consistency.
Karl Amon
It was a good possession game again from Karl, but it lacked some run and zip at times. We want him to cover the ground with energy and speed and hurt the opposition with quality possession.
Ben Sawford
Another who had his best game at League level combining really well with all of our mids. 'Sawf' was very good in tight with his hands and decision-making. Hopefully he can pull off three games in a row.
Brendon Ah Chee
Strong performance around the stoppages as well as providing a target up forward at times for the team. His attack on the contest and the opposition was as good as he has produced for the year.
Jarred Redden
Barnes and Curnow probably had the better of Reddo in some contests at times, but credit to him, he found a way to dig in and fight hard to give us first use at stoppage, and have a pretty good performance.
Anthony Biemans
Did not last long in the game due to a knee injury that will sideline him for a few weeks. We will miss his attack on the contest as well as his ability to play most positions.
Louis Sharrad
Has had a very consistent year for us. Gives us so much drive around stoppage and is always very team-orientated to assist others finding the footy.
Billy Frampton
Very much like Reddo he was not jumping in hard early and when he adjusted this at quarter time he had much more influence in ruck contests as well as taking some great marks around the ground.
Jesse Palmer
Took a while for him to get going as he was more up through the midfield, but it was a very strong game after half time. It was his attack on the contest and his tackling that was a real highlight of his game.
Mitch Harvey
Craig probably had the better of him over the course of the game, but Mitch did show at times he was prepared to compete as lots of our goals came through Mitch not being out-marked and bringing the ball to good areas for our small forwards to have impact.
Tom Jonas
Really strong performance over four quarters and had a great battle with a highly rated forward in Obst. His next challenge is to get more involved in our offence but he did lead the way in physicality for us.
Mason Shaw
Kicked a nice goal for us early in the game and showed he was prepared to hunt the opposition with some good tackling and contests in the air. Unfortunately got hurt during the half time warm-up and did not return.
Angus Monfries
A really good attitude and a really strong performance. Excellent leadership to all of our players as well as being really smart and classy around goals.
