PORT ADELAIDE will again travel to Loxton to face West Adelaide for SANFL premiership points, in a replay of last season’s Russell Ebert tribute match.
The game to be played at the redeveloped Loxton Oval will see the sides do battle on Sunday 30th April from 2:10pm as part of Round 4 of the SANFL season.
Last year’s Loxton match saw the Magpies triumph by 24 points to claim a special trophy, with Xavier Duursma awarded the Russell Ebert medal as best on ground.
The trophy and medal will again be awarded in 2023.
A legend of South Australian football, Ebert is Port Adelaide’s games record holder, a six-time best and fairest and three-time premiership player.
He won a record four Magarey Medals during his distinguished career and remained close to the Riverland right up until his death in November 2021.
Born in Berri, Ebert’s junior football was played at Loxton and senior football at Waikerie before he became a household name plying his trade at Alberton.
The visit to Loxton is one of four regional games in the 2023 season, with games also to be played in Port Lincoln, the Barossa and Murray Bridge across the year.
The Bloods are involved in three of the regional games, including facing Norwood on the Eyre Peninsula in Round 6, and the Crows in Murray Bridge in Round 16.
The other regional game will see Adelaide travel to the Barossa to take on Central District in Round 12.
The SANFL is expected to release the full league fixture on Tuesday.
