Port Adelaide will return to Whyalla to deliver its 2023 Community Camp.

A group of Port Adelaide players and coaches, including 400-game AFL player Shaun Burgoyne and 2022 AFLW club best and fairest Hannah Ewings, will travel to Whyalla in early March for the 2023 AFL Community Camp.

It will be the Power’s second AFL Community Camp visit to the Eyre Peninsula city, with the club set to deliver a series of educational programs to school groups, a football session for kids and a Community Dinner.

The Power Community Limited (PCL) team will conduct an Auskick Super Clinic at Whyalla Secondary College on Thursday March 2 from 4.30pm, before hosting the Community Dinner at the Westlands Hotel from 7pm, to raise important funds for the Whyalla Football League.

Players, coaches, and PCL staff will hit the road the following day to deliver the Community Youth and Respectful Relationships programs to eight schools across the region, focusing on healthy lifestyle and positive relationship education.

General Manager of Power Community Limited, Jake Battifuoco said the club is looking forward to heading to Whyalla for the occasion.

“We’re thrilled to return to Whyalla for the second time – it’s a special place to the club and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our major club sponsor GFG and the AFL,” Mr. Battifuoco said.

“Delivering our Community Youth and Respectful Relationship programs to students is critically important, especially at a time when reports of violence in schools throughout the region is spiking.

“Our programs use football as a hook to reengage students with their education, while also tackling key social issues through a whole of school education approach at a grassroots level.

“We’re also eager to get the kids excited for the return of footy with the Auskick Super Clinic, and to give back to the community with the annual Community Dinner fundraiser, with all money raised going back into local footy.

“We’d like to thank all the Whyalla football clubs, the Whyalla Football League and the Whyalla Council for supporting and helping co-ordinate this camp.”

Tickets for the annual Community Dinner include a chance to meet the players and enjoy a two-course meal are $40 per head, and are on sale now.
