FREMANTLE defender Luke McPharlin won't fly to Adelaide with his teammates and will miss Saturday's clash with the Power.

The West Australian reports the key Docker backman will miss the game, as confirmed by senior coach Ross Lyon in an interview with the Seven Network.

A final call on crutch-consigned Zac Dawson is also imminent, although recently returned midfielder Michael Barlow remained hopeful Dawson would play.

Dawson was substituted from Fremantle's win over West Coast on Sunday with an ankle injury.

"He had the scans [on Monday] and I've not had a chance to follow up with the extent of that, but he'll put every step in place to be available," Barlow said.

"He's got plenty of runs on the board in terms of getting up for games."

The Dockers' sports science manager Jason Weber also told DTV he was hopeful Dawson would pull through.

"Despite the fact he came off with the ankle ... he's been working non-stop with doctors and physios," Weber said.

"He's got some hurdles to jump this week."

Both Port Adelaide and Fremantle will confirm their final teams at 5:55pm (ACST) on Thursday evening.
