THE Port Adelaide Football Club congratulates Matthew Lokan and John Settre for being formally recognised by the SANFL at its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday.
Lokan was awarded SANFL Player/Coach Life Membership for his involvement with Port Adelaide and Glenelg across a 20-year period.
As a footballer, Lokan was a reliable defender who played 112 senior matches for the Magpies between 2002 and 2011.
He later assumed the role of senior coach for four seasons between 2018 and 2022 (Port didn’t feature in the SANFL’s 2020 campaign due to Covid-19) and led his side to the grand final in 2019.
Settre, a long-time club volunteer, was bestowed a SANFL Merit Award for his valuable and passionate service.
Currently the team manager of the Magpies, Settre has held an array of roles in previous seasons including junior delegate, chair of the club’s junior footy league, team manager of the U19s and SANFL reserves team manager.
Joining the club’s volunteering ranks in 1978, Settre has contributed to the Port Adelaide football community across more than four decades.
Port Adelaide chief executive Matthew Richardson congratulated the pair on their recognition.
“On behalf of the Port Adelaide Football Club, I congratulate both Matthew and John on their respective SANFL honours,” Mr Richardson said.
“Their commitment to our club has been invaluable over the years and we are pleased to see them publicly recognised for their services.”
