PORT ADELAIDE defender Trent McKenzie will miss Saturday’s game against Collingwood with an ankle injury, but Travis Boak and Jeremy Finlayson are both eyeing a return to AFL action.
McKenzie sprained his right ankle during the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Brisbane, but managed to play out the game.
Imaging on Monday confirmed he had suffered a high-grade ankle sprain, which will keep him out of Round 2.
His condition will be assessed throughout the week, with a timeline for his return to be determined in the coming days.
Boak will also be assessed after a rib fracture forced him to miss Round 1, with the club stalwart hoping to be fit and available for this weekend’s clash at the MCG.
Ruck-forward Jeremy Finlayson enjoyed valuable game-time in Saturday’s SANFL practice match, playing out the game in his return following syndesmosis repair surgery.
In the same game, draftee Kyle Marshall came off after rolling his left ankle, but the teenager has since pulled up well and remains in contention for selection this weekend.
Injury list
Travis Boak – rib (assess)
Kyle Marshall – ankle (assess)
