TODD MARSHALL is set to take the field this weekend against Essendon, while captain Tom Jonas will also be eligible for selection after serving a one-match ban.

Marshall entered concussion protocols following a head knock in Port Adelaide’s Round 6 win over West Coast, and the 24-year-old will undergo a final concussion test later this week.

If cleared, he is likely to slot back into the 22, however the question remains if the combined height of Marshall, Charlie Dixon, Ollie Lord and Jeremy Finlayson can all fit into the forward line or if a reshuffle may need to occur.

Jonas is expected to return after serving his suspension, with the skipper hoping to lead his side into a fifth-straight win.

A Xavier Duursma-shaped-hole needs filling on the wing, with the running midfielder preparing to spend up to 10 weeks on the sideline with a knee injury.

Miles Bergman and Travis Boak have both been spending time on the wing over the last few weeks, while single-game AFL player Josh Sinn has also been pushing for another shot at the top level.

Sinn has averaged 16 disposals from four games in the SANFL, with an impressive disposal efficiency of 88 per cent.

Assistant coach Josh Carr mentioned to media this week that he has continued to be impressed by Jackson Mead and Hugh Jackson’s on-field performances in the SANFL, with the latter yet to make his AFL debut.

Either player could take a midfield spot, with a possible position shake-up on the cards, particularly in Duursma’s absence.

Ruckman Brynn Teakle is set for another run at AFL level, with Carr expressing that Scott Lycett, who has spent the last two weeks in the SANFL, is “probably not quite there yet, but that doesn’t rule him out this year.”

Port Adelaide will name its extended 26-player squad on Thursday evening at 5:50pm ACST, with the final selected side announced at 4:30pm ACST Friday.

The game gets under way from 12:40pm ACST Sunday at Adelaide Oval.
