COACHES think the draft age is too low, and should be elevated, and a mid-season draft should be introduced, according to a survey that will be published in this weekend's AFL Record.
Conducted by afl.com.au, the coaches survey polled all 18 senior coaches on a range of topics.
Notably, the majority of team principals advocate a heightening of the draft age, and the introduction of a mid-season draft.
Other results from the survey found coaches:
WANT SHORTER games in terms of total duration.
DO NOT want changes to the timing of the grand final, or in dividing the final three games into conferences based on ladder position.
BELIEVE a suspended player should be eligible to win the Brownlow Medal.
ARGUE that free agency is not evening up the AFL competition, nor extending the careers of players.
