Senior coach Ken Hinkley has praised his side’s consistent behaviours which has led to securing ten wins in a row.
Coming up against the Bulldogs for the second time in the 2023 season, Port Adelaide silenced the home crowd at Marvel Stadium on Friday night, charging home late to secure the 22-point win.
“We have been really consistent in some of our behaviours which is what I’m most pleased about,” Hinkley said post-match.
“We have won lots of tough games and played lots of quality opposition. I think we have been able to answer all of the challenges so far.
“There is certainly great belief and it is growing, it’s not going away, it is getting stronger and the boys are getting ample examples of what it looks like.”
Friday night’s win also extended the club's winning run at Marvel Stadium to nine in a row, with Hinkley highlighting how important the ability to win away from home is.
“We set out at the start of the year to try and qualify, and that’s what we are still trying to do, to qualify,” Hinkley explained.
“The away wins help you qualify high and that’s what we are trying to achieve, to qualify high.”
Midfielder Zak Butters shone again on the prime-time stage, with a team-high 31 disposals and a goal – with his coach taking a moment to acknowledge his career-best form post-match.
"Zak's just, he's shooting the lights out, he's as good as you can be. He was bloody good again tonight, he was the best player on the ground probably again.”
But it was another young face that Hinkley wanted to highlight after the victory.
"Lachie Jones, what a game for an emerging young defender," he said.
"Without pumping too many up, I don't want to do that, but I think some people at a time in their career they have those moments, those games, and I think Lachie had one. I mean, I thought last week was pretty good by Lachie, but I thought tonight was at another level.
“We love his power, that’s what he brings to the team.”
