Emerging draftee Nathan Blee will debut for Port Adelaide against Hawthorn this weekend.

“He really uses the ball well, makes the right decisions, has got a nice kick and Josh Francou has done really well with him,” Port Adelaide’s midfield coach Shaun Rehn told PortAdelaideFC.com.au.

Picked up in the 2011 national draft from East Perth, Blee has impressed at North Adelaide and Rehn is pleased the 21-year-old has fought his way to an AFL debut.

“He’s played him down back, down forward and on a wing in the past couple of weeks and has found some strong running form at the Roosters,” said Rehn.

“He might play midfield or down back to cover a few of our guys who are out.

“It’s good to see a young kid who’s had genuine development in the SANFL force his way into the team.”

Blee features alongside four other inclusions to Port Adelaide’s side with David Rodan, Darren Pfeiffer, Jarrad Redden and Troy Chaplin all named in the Power’s 25-man squad.

Alipate Carlile and Tom Jonas will miss the game due to respective back and calf injuries.

Rodan has been named on the forward flank after being cleared to return to the side from an ongoing hamstring complaint after a strong performance for Norwood.

Similarly Chaplin has been brought back into the side as a logical replacement for the injured Alipate Carlile. Chaplin had struggled with a knee complaint but is sufficiently recovered to resume defensive duties.

Pfeiffer and Redden have been named on an extended bench for the Power and Rehn says the Power’s coaching panel is open to the possibility of further changes.

“Decisions will be made in due course,” he said.

Port Adelaide’s coaching panel, led by caretaker coach Garry Hocking, will name its final squad at 4.00pm (CST) on Friday afternoon.

Port Adelaide plays Hawthorn at 1.10pm (EST) on Sunday 12 August at Aurora Stadium, Launceston.
