ROUND 21 of the SANFL season began on Friday night under lights, with two matches taking place - West Adelaide went down by two goals to Glenelg while the Panthers similarly went down in a tight one to the Eagles.

Saturday saw two matches played simultaneously, with Central District too strong for the Magpies, and Sturt getting up in a thriller over North Adelaide.

Norwood had the bye.

All games were watched closely by development manager Daniel Healy and development coach Matthew Nicks. Their full report is below.

Player of the Week
Daniel Stewart (for Roosters vs Double Blues)
Another very solid day out for Snowy, really a class above. They couldn’t go with him and he kicked 6 goals for the day - he’s been kicking big bags of late, and it’s great to see him really start to take over games offensively. We’re still looking, from a developmental point of view, for him to work on his one-percenters and when the opposition have the ball to see a lot more defensive effort which’ll top off his game where he’s a powerhouse as an attacking player.

Jarrad Redden (for Eagles vs Panthers)
Reddo was solid again - he’s really hunting the ball well at stoppages, which is becoming a feature of his game. He only played for about 50 minutes, but had 9 possessions and 15 hit-outs in a pretty solid display.

Daniel Bass (for Panthers vs Eagles)
Bass was not as impressive as he’s been in recent weeks, really finding it tough going against Parry and his Power teammate Jarrad Redden. He has been playing sore and will freshen up this week and have a crack at helping the Panthers qualify for the finals.

Matt Westhoff (for Bulldogs vs Magpies)
Matt unfortunately broke arm in the 2nd quarter and that will rule him out for the remainder of 2011.

Kane Cornes (for Tigers vs Bloods)
Cornes was solid again with another 29 possessions - he worked very hard through the midfield and was a vital part of their win which was a real credit to him. The week before he had plenty of the ball but the team wasn’t competitive; this time he was a lot more influential as far as the game went with his possessions more damaging, which helped his side get over the line for the win.

Jason Davenport (for Bloods vs Tigers)
Dav had a reasonably quiet one, but he’s the sort of player who can really help his side reach their aim of making the SANFL finals by being a contributor to the club.

Daniel Webb (for Bloods vs Tigers)
Webb was solid in the ruck as well as playing down forward. He continues to improve in both areas, which is very pleasing as far as the development side of things goes.
