A STRONG 26-man team will take on Essendon at Etihad Stadium tonight after Lewis Stevenson, Karl Amon and Ben Newton were withdrawn from the original squad.

Newton and Stevenson stayed in Adelaide while Amon travelled with the team as emergency for the Power's final NAB Challenge game.

It leaves a competitive lineup to face the Dons with Travis Boak to lead the team for the first time in 2014 after missing the Power's first pre-season hit out.

Fellow leadership group members Brad Ebert, Hamish Hartlett, Angus Monfries, Tom Jonas, Robbie Gray and Matthew Lobbe with provide significant experience to the side as will fellow senior stars Kane Cornes, Justin Westhoff and Jay Schulz who will play their first AFL-standard games for this year.
