$how me the Mahoney [2007 edition 8] Jumper designs
Josh Mahoney reveals one of the other entries in the Power's jumper design competition. It came from little Joshy M.
What a terrific idea by our marketing team to give young kids the opportunity to design their very own Power jumper. We have all designed a jumper for our favourite teams at some stage in our life, but our design has remained on the paper it was drawn on. For our lucky winner Troy Andrews his design was not only brought to life by Reebok, it was worn by the team in an actual game.I met Troy at the launch of the jumper and he was so excited. His family were all there and was so proud of what he had done. He was to be treated like a king at AAMI Stadium that week, however in a noble gesture he nominated that the biggest highlight was to be when his entire class was able to form a guard of honour for the players as they ran onto the ground. What a great kid!It was a great design and the correct choice as winner from the nearly 2,500 entries. There were however some other great entries, and I am told that this entry was in fact runner-up. It was by a young boy known as Joshy M., what do you think? A bit stiff not to win I would have thought.Following the game some fierce bidding led to the jumpers selling for an average of nearly $900. This support again shows that our fans are willing to part with their hard earned to benefit the club and get their hands on some of our clubs memorabilia. Collector’s items they will become.Every time my parents come over from Victoria and go to the footy they cannot believe how much merchandise all of our supporters have. “We have never seen so many people with flags” they say, and they comment on how it seems that every car has either a Power or Crows sticker on it.Whether you are entering a club competition to design a jumper, bidding to buy some memorabilia or buying a club flag or sticker, you are supporting the club. Thanks.Bad luck Joshy M.mahns
