PORT ADELAIDE senior coach Lauren Arnell has revealed the joyful news that she is expecting a baby in early 2024.
Arnell and partner Lexia Edwards were thrilled to share their announcement with the AFLW and AFL playing groups and staff earlier this week.
The pair are relieved to finally have the news out in the open, with Arnell hiding her growing tummy over the last few weeks.
“Lexi and I are so excited for this next chapter of our lives,” Arnell said.
“Players and staff have really shared in our excitement, and everyone around us has been incredibly supportive.”
The 36-year-old will continue in her role and is expecting to be able to complete the upcoming season as senior coach of the AFLW side.
“Aside from perhaps being a bit slower to move around over the next few months, I’m very excited to continue leading this group, supported by my fantastic assistant and development coaches,” she said.
Arnell was providing coaching support in the SANFL and AFL programs but took a step back last month to ensure she remained healthy and well in the early stages of her pregnancy.
Port Adelaide’s AFLW season begins on September 2 with a Showdown at Norwood Oval.
