DARCY Byrne-Jones is expected to return to AFL football this weekend, while other players have also been pressing their case for selection.

Byrne-Jones suffered a head knock and entered concussion protocols after the Power’s loss to Carlton, but is due for a comeback pending a final test later in the week.

With Willie Rioli set to miss this week after being handed a one-match ban, Byrne-Jones could be a direct positional swap for Rioli.

Jase Burgoyne and Quinton Narkle both showed outstanding form in Sunday’s win over Sturt, with the pair collecting 24 and 23 disposals respectively.

Both players have featured at AFL level in recent weeks and will be keen to try and reclaim their positions in the side, particularly ahead of finals.

Riley Bonner’s 22 touches and 10 marks also puts him in the conversation, with the versatile 26-year-old recently stringing some strong SANFL performances together.

After being the tactical substitute in Saturday’s AFL game, defender Dylan Williams will be hoping to be elevated back into the 22.

Williams has become a reliable fan favourite in the backlines this season, with the 22-year-old having been selected in the starting side for 13 of his 15 games in 2023.

Port Adelaide will name its team for the Round 20 Showdown on Thursday evening at 5:50pm ACST.
