No Carr or P Burgoyne this week
Mark Williams says Josh Carr and Peter Burgoyne won't play, but Shaun Burgoyne is a chance for the Showdown
Burgoyne, 26, has not played since suffering severe bone bruising below his knee in the round-three win over Melbourne.
He has trained strongly over the past three weeks and Williams said the star onballer would make a return to football with the Power rather than via the SANFL.
"Shaun's been doing lots and lots of aerobic work away from the track as well," Williams said.
"He's not going to play huge game-time, but we're thinking that 50 per cent of Shaun Burgoyne is probably better than 70 per cent of someone else."
Williams described this week's selection meeting as the most encouraging of the season, but said neither Carr nor Peter Burgoyne would be considered.
Carr was solid for SANFL side Glenelg on Saturday, while Burgoyne was good without being outstanding for the Port Adelaide Magpies.
"When Josh and Peter were omitted I said they would be out for 2-3 weeks and they will be. It's not just a one-game affair and they're fully-focused on that."
The Power have not won consecutive games since rounds three and four this season, but do boast an impressive record at AAMI Stadium.
Port Adelaide has dropped just one game, to an unbeaten St Kilda, at home in 2009 and Williams said his side was well placed to break through for back-to-back wins for the first time in three months.
"If you're looking for any team to play to make sure the players are on it would be Adelaide. The idea that we have to come up with something special to win this week just doesn't apply because we're playing Adelaide," Williams said.
"Adelaide's form has been outstanding. They've beaten lots and lots of teams in a row. There's no doubt that form would say Adelaide are the ones in front, but we've got a few things coming right for us at this time of the year, so we look forward to seeing how we come up against a real, quality, top-four side."
