The 20-year-old speedster was taken with the club’s first pick in the 2008 Rookie Draft and has impressed over the pre-season with some eye-catching performances in the NAB Cup and NAB Challenge, including three goals on debut against Sydney.
General Manager – Football Operations Peter Rohde said Thompson was an exciting prospect.
“He’s got electrifying pace and can kick some incredible goals,” Rohde said.
“Obviously being elevated today, he’ll be pushing for Round 1 selection.”
