THE Board and Management of the Port Adelaide Football Club wholeheartedly supports the recognition of First Nations people in the Constitution.

We endorse the proposed changes to the Constitution to establish a First Nations Voice to Parliament and look forward to further details on how this will function to ensure the intended changes and outcomes are achieved where they are most needed.

Port Adelaide fully supports the South Australian Voice to Parliament and commends the South Australian Parliament on the extensive community consultation undertaken to develop a clear and transparent framework.

The club has deliberately undertaken an approach of listening and learning around the matters outlined in the upcoming referendum including establishing a First Nations Advisory Committee, comprising of past and current First Nations staff and players as well as community leaders.

We are proud of our ongoing role in advocating and facilitating meaningful and ongoing change for First Nations people and communities.

We recognise that every individual has the right to make their own decision.

This is an important moment, and we encourage all Australians to inform and educate themselves ahead of the referendum.
