MITCH Banner has put his hand up for Round 22 Power selection with a dominant performance for the Eagles reserves against Central District, to win the Round 21 SANFL Player of the Week.

Banner returned through the Eagles with a positive attitude and this was reflected in his performance, racking up a massive 30 possessions rotating on-ball and up forward.

In total, 13 Power players were in action in the SANFL at the weekend, read the full report from development coaches Darren Trevena and Garry Hocking below.

SANFL Player of the Week
Mitch Banner (for Eagles reserves v Centrals) - Very good game from Mitch with a massive 30 possessions playing in the midfield and up forward. Had a number of clearances and his defensive pressure was great around the packs. Used the ball well and worked hard for the full four quarters. 20 kicks, 10 handballs, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 4 clearances and 12 handball receives.

Jarrad Redden (for Eagles v Centrals) - Great game from Jarrad in his first league game for 2010, rotating through the ruck and forward line. Looked dangerous at times up forward kicking two goals and also applying some great defensive pressure. Competed well in the ruck against experienced ruckman Buckets MacKenzie. Really impressed with how he’s progressing. Had 5 kicks, 5 handballs, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 9 hitouts and 2.2.

Wade Thompson (for South reserves v Glenelg) - Wade played under the guest player rule for South Adelaide. Started on the wing and looked very lively, getting involved in the play straight away and linking up well from defence to attack. Played down back in the second half and showed some good signs rebounding. Finished with 18 touches, 3 tackles and 9 handball receives, which showed how hard he was running.

John Butcher (for Magpies reserves v West) - Played in very difficult conditions on Friday night at Richmond. Played in the ruck early and rotated forward as the game went on. The game had plenty of stoppages and he tried hard in the ruck. Also managed to get forward to kick a goal. Finished with 10 touches and 4 hitouts.

Daniel Bass (for Panthers v Tigers) - Another impressive effort from Bassy, looking comfortable against a quality ruckman in Cranston. He used his strength well and moved smoothly around the ground. Got his knees dirty getting a few clearances out to the running players. Finshed with 7 possessions, 3 tackles and 22 hitouts.

Jordan Johns (for Panthers reserves v Glenelg) - A quiet day for Jordan, just needing to find a bit of confidence to turn things around. Needs to play a bit further up the ground so he is able to run more.

Daniel Webb (for Bloods reserves v Magpies) - Reasonable game at centre half forward, moving well to create an option for his teammates. Didn’t kick a goal in the tough conditions but worked hard defensively applying 10 tackles.

Matthew Westhoff (for Bulldogs reserves v Eagles) - Reasonable game from Matty playing on a wing. He showed some good signs finding his own footy and delivered the ball well forward. Needs to stay more involved in the game throughout. Finished with 12 kicks, 4 handballs, 7 marks 3 tackles and 0.1.

Glenn Dawson (for Eagles reserves v Tigers) - In and out of the game a bit but still flew for his usual screamers. Applied some good defensive pressure at times but just needs to stay involved for longer periods. Had 9 kicks, 5 marks and 0.2.

Jason Davenport (for Bloods v Magpies ) - Jase worked hard in the midfield but the conditions made it difficult for him to get much supply when forward. Kicked one of the five goals scored during the match and will be hoping for some better conditions next week.

Matthew Lobbe (for Bloods v Magpies) - First game back after an 8-week injury lay-off, playing in shocking conditions against quality opposition. It was difficult to jump at the ruck contests because of the conditions, meaning it was a wrestle most of the time, and he performed well giving his midfielders first use of the ball. Had 3 clearances, 5 tackles, 5 possessions and 21 hitouts in an impressive performance.

Scott Harding (for Bloods v Magpies) - Played forward but struggled to get a lot of the ball in the terrible conditions. Got a couple of clearances but like Jase will be hoping for some more bearable conditions next week.

Jasper Pittard (for Double Blues reserves v Bloods) - In really tough conditions, Jasper was good, winning plenty of the ball and using it well. Made a couple of errors but for the most part looked sharp and kept his feet well in the contest.
