The Optimistic Kids program has commenced at Alberton Oval for young children who have parents working in the Australian Defence Force.

Optimistic Kids provides children with fun, interactive workshops focused on identifying strengths, positive thinking and resilience, and includes a tour of Alberton Oval and coaching clinic.

Power Community Ltd, the community development arm of Port Adelaide Football Club, has secured funding from the Department of Defence to facilitate workshops in partnership with Optimistic Kids.

Students from Playford PS and Catherine McAuley Catholic School were the first schools to be involved in 2014 and were pleased to meet Power player Jackson Trengove who shared his own stories about resilience and recovering from sporting injuries.

Optimistic Kids is part of the Defence Recognition Program managed by Power Community Ltd and supported by BAE Systems. The program provides support and recognition for veterans and their families, families who are currently serving in the Australian Defence Force, and the broader Defence Industry in South Australia.

Thank you to the Department of Defence, BAE Systems and Optimistic Kids – we are kicking goals together.
