THE Port Adelaide Football Club congratulates David Koch on being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (AM).
Mr. Koch receives the AM for his significant service to media as a television presenter, to economic journalism, and to services to the community and charity, following his over 20-year long career in TV and media, and passionate advocacy and fundraising efforts for numerous causes and charity organisations over many years.
Mr. Koch led a campaign, in partnership with DonateLife, resulting in the federal government establishing the Organ and Tissue Authority, of which he became the Chairman, and now oversees Australia’s organ transplant system.
He is also a long-time ambassador for the not-for-profit Youth Off The Streets, opening the Koch Centre for Youth Learning in Sydney’s Macquarie Fields in 2011.
The centre, named after Mr. Koch and wife Libby, provides young people opportunities to socialise, engage in positive activities, and access critical learning facilities. He has also raised critical awareness of the eye disease, glaucoma.
Mr. Koch has been the Chairman of the Port Adelaide Football Club since 2012, a volunteer role in which he contributes significantly with his time and expertise leading the club's Board.
The Board, staff and players of the Port Adelaide Football Club extend their gratitude and congratulations to David on this thoroughly deserved recognition.
