PORT ADELAIDE has named a strong 23-man squad for its pre-season trial game against North Adelaide.
Included in the side are experienced defenders Trent McKenzie and Tom Clurey along with exciting forward Mitch Georgiades.
The hit-out will provide valuable game time for Georgiades as he continues to push towards an AFL return, nearly 11 months after suffering a ruptured ACL.
Quinton Narkle has been included after shaking off back soreness while Josh Sinn and Dante Visentini are the other players listed who have AFL experience.
Draftees Will Lorenz, Lachie Charleson, Xavier Walsh and Tom Anastasopoulos will each play and second-year backman Kyle Marshall will get his first minutes of the pre-season after overcoming a back injury.
Ten of the club’s SANFL contracted players have been named including new captain Nick Moore and off-season recruits Josh Byrne, Tyson Brazel, Logan Evans, Beau Baldwin and Bailey Chamberlain.
AFL emergencies not required for Sunday’s season opener against West Coast will also be able to feature for the Magpies.
The game at Thebarton Oval will be Hamish Hartlett’s first as coach of the club’s SANFL side since taking on the role in November.
First bounce is at 3:20pm on Saturday with free entry for all members and supporters.
Port Adelaide will complete its SANFL pre-season by taking on South Adelaide at Alberton on Friday, 22 March from 5:45pm.
