AT just one day old, the newest member of the club already has his name in the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
…it’s a pretty impressive feat for someone literally born yesterday.
Little Tredrea Berbec shares a very famous name with some Port Adelaide football royalty - he was named after his father’s favourite Power player; 2004 premiership captain Warren Tredrea.
Parents Tim and Ellen are faithful Power fans, and already had the name (and junior membership) organised well before the little guy was born.
“In my life there was no better player – my favourite player was always Tredrea, so for me it was perfect,” Tim said.
It’s the second generation of honouring Port greats in the Berbec family - Tim was named after Magpies legend Tim Evans and his brother after club great Russell Ebert.
“Black, white and teal runs through the veins in my family,” Tim said.
“I wanted to keep the tradition of naming my kids after Port greats.”
By the sound of things, the family tradition is set to continue - their second child will be named after Ellen’s favourite player!
And according to the lifelong supporter, being a Port Adelaide member is the best start to life you could ask for.
“You don’t pick your club, you inherit it. And that’s the best gift I could give my kids - to be a supporter of the Port Adelaide Football Club!” Tim said.
