YARTAPUULTI mid-season draftee Logan Evans will make his return from a back injury in Friday night’s SANFL clash with Sturt at Alberton.
Evans is one of five changes made to Hamish Hartlett’s side with rucks Jordon Sweet and Dante Visentini also returning.
Originally from Norwood, Evans was allowed to train with Yartapuulti’s AFL side and play with its SANFL side under the SANFL Rookie Program before his name was called with the 12th pick in Wednesday night’s mid-season rookie draft.
Evans has not played since the Round 4 loss to Norwood in late April.
Midfielder Murphy Short is also back in the side, having been absent through injury since Round 2, while young forward Tom Anastasopoulos returns having been an AFL emergency for the past two games.
Anastasopoulos, Sweet and defender Tom Clurey are AFL emergencies for Thursday night’s blockbuster game against Carlton and if required may not feature at SANFL level.
Yartapuulti has lost Francis Evans and Ivan Soldo to the AFL line-up, while SANFL contracted players Bailey Chamberlain, Will O’Brien and Harry Williams also go out of the team, but each are the listed emergencies.
Friday night’s game at Alberton Oval is part of the SANFL’s First Nations Round and Port Adelaide will wear a variation of the guernsey designed by 2004 Premiership player Byron Pickett and his cousin Melanie Pickett.
First bounce is at 7:10pm, with gates open from 5:40pm.
