PORT ADELAIDE will kick off its AFLW season with a Saturday night Showdown against the Crows at Alberton Oval.

The AFL on Friday released the 2024 NAB AFLW fixture, which for Port Adelaide includes six home games at Alberton including its blockbuster season opener on August 31 and a first ever meeting with Collingwood, to be played on a Thursday night.

Lauren Arnell’s side will also face Fremantle and Richmond for the first time, having yet to play those sides in the club’s first two seasons in the competition.

Three of the games at Alberton – against the Crows, Magpies and St Kilda will be night games, while there will be home day games against the Dockers, Carlton and Greater Western Sydney, with the Giants game to close the Power’s home-and-away campaign.

For the first time teams will play an 11-game NAB AFLW home and away season with an additional game on either a Tuesday or Wednesday as ‘Mid-Week Footy’ is introduced during a four-week block across weeks four to seven in the draw. 

That means Port Adelaide will play back-to-back games in Melbourne, against the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos and Richmond within four days and then return to Alberton to take on Carlton five days later.

The final round of the season, a home game against GWS, will be fixtured later to be played on a date between Thursday, 31 October and Sunday, 3 November.

Key highlights of the club’s fixture include:

- Saturday night Showdown at Alberton Oval on August 31 to open the club’s season
- Three Friday evening/night games and one Thursday night game
- Home games against Adelaide, Fremantle, Carlton, Collingwood, St Kilda and GWS
- A Tuesday night hit-out against Richmond in Round 5, the second of back-to-back away games in Melbourne within four days
- Three of the last four games at home at Alberton Oval, including the Round 11 game against GWS
- Pride Round match against Collingwood in week seven
- First Nations Rounds to be held across weeks nine and ten when Port Adelaide plays Gold Coast and GWS.

Port Adelaide’s AFLW side returns for the official start of pre-season training on Monday.
