PORT ADELAIDE could have three club debutants among six changes to its SANFL side for its clash with North Adelaide on Sunday afternoon.

After making his AFL debut in last weekend’s win over St Kilda, Will Lorenz returns to the Magpies line-up as does Dylan Williams, while Kyle Marshall has been included after clearing concussion protocols and Willie Rioli has also been named for his first game at SANFL level for the club.

Rioli missed three games with a calf injury and then illness sidelined him last week. The 29-year-old has previously played in the SANFL for Glenelg but not since being drafted into the AFL at the end of 2016.

Father-son prospect Rome Burgoyne will play his first game of league football, after an agreement between the club, the SANFL and his junior club Woodville-West Torrens.

The son of Port Adelaide’s 2004 premiership player Peter Burgoyne and brother of AFL-listed winger Jase Burgoyne, Rome is part of the club’s Next Generation Academy and is eligible to be drafted by Port Adelaide, where his father player 240 AFL and 36 SANFL games.

A Prince Alfred College student, the 17-year-old is able to feature for the Magpies for four games under a ruling which permits father-son and Next Generation Academy players to feature for Port Adelaide in the SANFL.

The solidly built defender is averaging 22.3 disposals and 5.6 rebound 50s per game for the Eagles in the SANFL under 18 competition but will spend part of the school holidays training with Port Adelaide’s AFL side, along with some other father-son prospects.

Rome Burgoyne’s cousin Ky Burgoyne played two games for the Magpies under the same rule earlier this season.

Also included to face North Adelaide on Sunday is forward Lachlan Pascoe who has previously played 13 league games at Norwood between 2016 and 2023.

Going out of the team that lost to Central District last Sunday are Francis Evans, who has been called into the AFL line-up, and SANFL contracted players Miller Carter, Will Ferrari, Dustin Launer, Will O'Brien and Harry Williams.

First bounce at Prospect Oval this week is at 2:30pm.
