PORT ADELAIDE selectors will consider going into Saturday night’s clash with Melbourne with an unchanged line-up for the second consecutive week, with no forced changes to be expected.

With a clean bill of health from the 23 that took the field and the strong performance against Sydney, selectors will be tempted to take the same group to the MCG.

The potential availability of forward Todd Marshall after a hip injury and ruck Ivan Soldo from a knee issue could sway a change.

Marshall has missed the wins over Richmond, Carlton and the Swans after hurting his hip in the Round 18 game against Gold Coast while Soldo’s last game came in Round 15 against Greater Western Sydney.

There was no SANFL game at the weekend, so players were not able to push their selection claims, though Jed McEntee, Ryan Burton and Dante Visentini were the unused AFL emergencies on Saturday night and remain close to respective call-ups.

In his last outing in the SANFL against Sturt, Visentini recorded 45 hit-outs and five clearances to go with five tackles and 12 disposals to be among the dominant ruck on the ground and among the best for the Magpies.

Burton, playing his second game back after a foot injury, had 13 disposals, three tackles and three clearances while offering plenty of rebound out of the backline, while McEntee had missed a game under the concussion protocols.

Wingman Will Lorenz could come into AFL calculations again following his consistently strong run of form. Against the Double Blues in his last game, he was the Magpies’ leading disposal getter with 24 touches and also laid four tackles and had five clearances, five marks and five rebound 50s.

Port Adelaide will on Thursday evening name its side for Saturday night’s game against Melbourne, which gets underway at 7:00pm ACST.
