PORT ADELAIDE has welcomed midfielder Jo Miller to the club as an injury replacement player, after moving utility Indy Tahau to the club’s AFLW inactive list.
Tahau suffered an ACL injury last season and with her rehabilitation not progressing as expected, will not be in a position to play in 2024.
The 21-year-old last month agreed to a two-year contract extension, tying her to the club until at least the end of 2026.
Glenelg SANFLW midfielder Jo Miller has been a train-on player at the club in the pre-season after impressing with the Bays in 2024 and has a background as a triathlete who represented Australia.
The 25-year-old averaged 23 disposals, six clearances and 10 tackles per game after making her SANFLW debut in Round 6.
“While we’ll miss Indy this season, once we knew that she wouldn’t be able to play this year, it was important to the club that she be given the time she needs to get her knee right for next season,” said Head of AFLW Shane Grimm.
“This has allowed us to give Jo an opportunity to be elevated to our playing list after she has spent recent weeks training with the group at Alberton.
“Jo is a highly accomplished athlete who we know can come into the side and contribute immediately if called upon.
“We’re excited to welcome her officially to the group.”
The club can also confirm midfielder Hannah Ewings will take extended personal leave from the group and won’t be available for selection in 2024.
