Port Adelaide midfielder Jason Horne-Francis has been named in the AFL Players’ Association final 22Under22 team.
One of the competition’s most damaging midfielders, Horne-Francis has an enjoyed an outstanding year at AFL level, missing just two games through injury.
Averaging just over 22 disposals and almost six clearances per game, the 21-year-old has also kicked 23 majors, showing his versatility and value in the forward line.
A powerful and explosive player, Horne-Francis has developed enormously throughout 2024, particularly with his ability to read the play and stand up in big moments.
Taken by North Melbourne as the number one pick in the 2021 national draft, the South Adelaide product then famously landed at Alberton during the 2022 trade period.
In just his third season in the AFL, Horne-Francis has produced match-winning performances, driven by a never-give-in attitude and team-first mentality.
This is the second time the young rising star has been named in the 22Under22 squad, and the first time he has made the final team.
The 22Under22 is a fan-voted concept that recognises the best 22 players aged 22 and under for the entirety of the season (including grand final day), who have played at least 50 per cent of home-and-away matches.
The initial 40-player squad was chosen by chair of selectors, Leigh Montagna and an AFL PA internal selection panel, with support from Champion Data.
