POWERFUL forward Sam Powell-Pepper has extended his time at Alberton by signing a four-year extension with Port Adelaide.
With a year still to run on his current contract, the 26-year-old’s new deal takes him through until at least the end of 2029.
Powell-Pepper is a fan-favourite and beloved teammate who has been missed on-field in 2024, as he’s rehabilitated a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament sustained in Round 7.
A heart-and-soul player who thrives on pressure and contest, Powell-Pepper is strong, aggressive and clever around goals.
The West Australian product is pleased to be staying in Adelaide, where he is settled with fiancé Brya, and young daughters Frankie and Billie.
“I just love being at Port Adelaide, and I can’t imagine playing anywhere else,” Powell-Pepper said.
“I’ve made so many great mates here and my family has been welcomed at the club with open arms.
“While this year has been tough for me personally with my injury, it’s taught me lessons about patience and resilience, and about being a great leader, even when you’re not on the field.
“Being in the leadership group this year has been a career highlight for me, and I can’t wait to come back stronger next year.”
Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps was pleased to secure Powell-Pepper’s signature.
“Sam is an important member of our playing group, both on and off the field,” Cripps said.
“He brings energy and positivity, and he boasts a formidable on-field presence, with his forward pressure and the way he attacks the ball.
“To lock him in to continue his time at Port Adelaide is really pleasing.”
Port Adelaide selected Powell-Pepper at pick 18 in the 2016 national draft, and he made his debut in Round 1 the following year.
