PORT ADELAIDE trio Zak Butters, Dan Houston and Jason Horne-Francis have been named in the All-Australian 44-player squad.
Butters and Houston were both in the final All-Australian team in 2023, while this is Horne-Francis’ first inclusion.
Off the back of his selection in the AFL Players’ Association 22Under22 last week, young rising star Horne-Francis has now earned his first chance at an AA blazer.
The third-year player has had a breakout season, showing resilience and strength of character, on and off the field.
Horne-Francis’ numbers in 2024 have been particularly impressive for a 21-year-old, averaging 22 disposals, 5.7 clearances and 3.1 tackles, while also kicking 25 goals.
His never-give-up approach, smart ball use and sheer power have seen him change games and stand up in big moments throughout the season.
Vice-captain Butters has enjoyed an outstanding year, leading from the front throughout his first season in a formal leadership role.
Averaging 28.7 disposals, 11 contested possessions and 5.1 clearances from his 23 games, the 23-year-old’s work-rate, consistency and courage are trademarks of his game.
Butters thrives on contest and pressure, and has quickly become one of Port Adelaide’s most important midfielders.
Known for his powerful and accurate kick, Houston has been a leader in defence in 2024, also stepping into the leadership group this year for the first time.
Houston’s success story is one of hard work and resilience, with the 27-year-old playing over 150 games since being taken at pick 45 in the 2015 rookie draft.
Averaging 23 disposals, 5.4 marks and 5.1 rebound 50s per game this year, Houston has also hit the scoreboard, recording seven goals.
The final All-Australian team will be announced on Thursday night at the AFL Awards in Melbourne.
