ZAK BUTTERS and Dan Houston have been rewarded for their outstanding seasons, with both being named in the 2024 AFL All-Australian final team.

Announced at the 2024 AFL Awards on Thursday evening, the Port Adelaide pair went back-to-back after also taking home a blazer in 2023.

Port Adelaide vice-captain Butters has led from the front throughout his first season in a formal leadership role.

Known for his work-rate, intensity and for always giving 100 per cent, the 23-year-old has averaged 28.7 disposals, 11 contested possessions and 5.1 clearances from his 23 games.

Butters thrives on contest and pressure, and has quickly become one of the Power’s most important and exciting young midfielders.

The 2024 AFL Players’ MVP Awards were also awarded on the night, with Butters taking home the Most Courageous award, which he also won in 2023.

Houston has been a leader in defence throughout 2024, with the 27-year-old also being elevated into the leadership group for the first time.

Known for his powerful and accurate kick, Houston’s success story is one of hard work and resilience, having played over 150 games since being selected at pick 45 in the 2015 rookie draft.

Averaging 23 disposals, 5.4 marks and 5.1 rebound 50s from 22 games, Houston has also managed to hit the scoreboard on seven occasions.

Young defender Logan Evans was in attendance at the AFL Awards, with the mid-season draftee being nominated as the Round 24 Telstra Rising Star.
