INJURY replacement signings Teagan Germech and Caitlin Wendland will continue on with Port Adelaide after each agreeing to respective three-year contract extensions.

While both had experience in the AFLW at other clubs, Germech and Wendland have been revelations for the Power in 2024, each playing every game so far.

In the absence of injured captain Janelle Cuthbertson, Germech has stood tall on some of the competition’s best forwards, averaging six disposals, two spoils and 2.5 tackles per game.

Still just 22, the former elite netballer previously played seven games for Greater Western Sydney as an injury replacement player last season.

Wendland was recruited after a stand-out SANFLW campaign with Central District and a three-game stint as an injury replacement player with Brisbane last season.

The classy left footer has booted eight goals so far this year including two in Sunday’s win over the Giants, and averages seven disposals and 5.7 tackles per game playing as a half forward.

Port Adelaide List Manager Naomi Maidment said both Germech and Wendland had made the most of their second opportunities in the AFLW and deserved their contract extensions.

“Teagan and Caitlin came to our club relatively late in the pre-season but settled in seamlessly and have contributed strongly throughout the course of the season,” Maidment said.

“Teagan's athleticism and ability to read the play has been invaluable for us this season. Teagan has some great fundamentals and works exceptionally hard, and we think she will become a really versatile player for us.

“Caitlin’s foot skills are among the best in our side. While we like her ability to impact the scoreboard, she also works really hard to keep the ball in our forward half.

“Caitlin has shown she has an excellent football IQ and at still only 21, its very exciting to see where her game can go.

“We’re really pleased with what both Teagan and Caitlin have brought to our club and look forward to their continued development over the next three seasons.”

The new contracts tie Germech and Wendland to Port Adelaide until the end of the 2027 season.
